Re: Ferrets anyone
I use to have one but my bro got him with his gf then I started to care for him when they broke up and she wanted him and he was her baby so I let her have him back it was sad =[
Re: Ferrets anyone
I have two.
They are being little terrors right now though...more so than usual and it's driving me crazy. Perhaps they are entering their "terrible twos" stage.

Ferret question: Since they are very capable little predators, how do you ensure that your smaller animals and or birds are safe?

Re: Ferrets anyone
My smaller animals are securely locked up in their cages while the ferts are out. Kamri does love to climb though and will scale a low table and climb on the top of my gerbils cage. She doesn't climb up the table to get to my gerbil though, she usually wants to play in the blinds which are accesible via the top of Brye's cage.
When the ferts venture into the glider closet, my boys will just sit and watch (safely inside their cage) as the ferrets snoop around. While I'm sure the ferrets can smell them, they don't actually look for them (ferrets rarely look up to investigate)...at least that I can tell. They just like to get into everthing and they particularly love the gliders stuff!
My ferrets ARE supervised though while they are out, I just have never noticed them actively seeking out my small critters.

Re: Ferrets anyone
My husband Carlos has one ferret named Ziggy. He is the sweetest guy on earth!
But we keep him FAR AWAY from our suggies, just in case. He is on the 1st level of the house, and the suggies on the 2nd (with their door CLOSED!). Besides, the ferret is never let run free unless someone is supervising him.

Re: Ferrets anyone
I have always avoided predators. .. I don't think I could keep up w/making sure they are separate and well-supervised. I guess I'm glad I only have granddogs and grandkitties instead of grandferrets. lol, Connie. You are a great ferret grandmommie. Or really just a great mom!
