Waiting in the dark, Dementia is missing
My husband and I got home last night about 10 pm and I immediately began feeding everyone. A little later I noticed the Addams family cage was going a little crazy and went to check on them. I only counted 3 gliders instead of 4. Little Demetia was missing. Last week when I was cleaning their cage I noticed one of the bars was broke and "thought" I had fixed it. Evidentally not good enough.
I was up till 5am looking and listening for her. I finally fell asleep and woke up again after 8am and began my search again, still nothing. Again this afternoon looking for her to no avail. So now my waiting in the dark begins again, listening and looking for any signs of her. I have put out food, mealies and pouches in hopes of her return. So please say a little prayer for Dementia, her skin mommy and fur mommy Morticia misses her!

Re: Waiting in the dark, Dementia is missing
Thank you everyone! It looks like its going to be another long night. I have pouches and food everywhere throughout the house. I'm hoping that she was just to scared last night to move or make a noise and that tonight I will find her. The not knowing where she is or what happened to her is the worst part.

If she lived at my house, she would be in my closet in a pocket or probably in one of my purses. She may be sleeping "close to you" in something w/your scent.

Re: Waiting in the dark, Dementia is missing
I have checked everywhere for her between last night, this morning and this afternoon. Luckily, I have read the missing glider posts before, so I dont think there is anywhere I havent checked. Well ok, there is obviously somewhere I hadnt checked since she is still in hiding.
I had hoped that I would at least have gotten bitten or crabbed at when I was going through clothes, shoes, boots, boxes, fleece, drawers and cabinets.
Its going to be a long night. Everyone is asleep except for me and the gliders so I hope she will take the opportunity to come out to say "Hi mom!"

Re: Waiting in the dark, Dementia is missing
My prayers are with you and your little Dementia, to be found safe.
Keep double checking even in the places you've already checked. Remember they can move from one place to another... looking for their home cage or for you. Keep calling her...
I pray that next time we hear from you will be good news!

There is still no good news of Dementia's return. Although I am still hopeful that she will turn up when I least expect it, my hopes "are" begining to fade some. It will be 2 weeks tomorrow.

I'm so sorry. But I will keep praying, thinking that most times: "no news is good news".
Keep leaving her food and water where she might find it.

Re: Waiting in the dark, Dementia is missing
I had a joey lost in the house for 3 days once, I didn't see any traces of her for 2 nights, did on the 3rd night and caught her the next morning. I found it helpful to put a pouch and a plate of every room that I could, then closed the door, then once she does come out to eat at least you know what room she is in. I couldn't do that for the livingroom, hall kitchen because they all open to eachother and there is no door, but I did find food eaten in the kitchen so I stoped feeding the other rooms but kept the doors closed so she couldn't get in them. Then I was able to only search the kitchen, hall and living room.
Don't give up hope they almost always turn up, you just have to be quiet and patient.

Re: Waiting in the dark, Dementia is missing
I'm with you Sherri....I lost Bowen 6 days ago I have literally searched my house top to bottom (almost killed myself in the attic), leave food and water out in several rooms every night, I have pouches hanging everywhere....nothing. I've lost sleep staying up late with a flashlight. If I could just hear him, or even just see him dart out from somewhere I'd be relieved...at least know he is still alive at least. I hope Dementia finds her way back to you.... And I know what you mean about your hope fading...I get so upset with myself thinking that too... We both need to keep good positive thoughts that our babies will be found safe!

Re: Waiting in the dark, Dementia is missing
Sherri & Stephanie,
I pray that soon we will receive the good news that both Dementia & Bowen are back on their home-cages where they belong!!!
I lost one of my girls a while ago, just for less than an hour and I wanted to die... can't imagine days.
Prayers sent for you both and your furkids.

Re: Waiting in the dark, Dementia is missing
The longest I've ever had to search was 2 1/2 hrs and all along they were in the same room w/their cage but they had been all over the house, especially in my bedroom.
I'm so sorry you are both having to deal with this and sending best wishes for a happy ending.

No, nothing to report...I feel the same way...like he just vanished into thin air...and it makes me sadder and sadder sitting here with his empty cage right next to my computer....

Re: Waiting in the dark, Dementia is missing
I dont have the empty cage. Luckily I do have mom, dad and older sister but I dont know if that makes it harder or easier to deal with. They're finally back to acting normal again. I just wish I could.
