"TROOPER" CROSSED THE RAINBOW BRIDGE

This morning, when I went to check my suggies, and give the mommy milk supplement, and I found the 1st joey that came out last week (from the triplets) cold and abandoned in the cage, next to the parents pouch.
I tried to bring him back to mommy and daddy (who always have been good parents) and they keep pushing him away.
I rushed the baby fast to the vet in Bend (45 minutes from home) right after I talked to Nicole.
I had all necessary emergency kit, but couldn't find the feeding Catheter or a needleless syringe... and the droppers were to big for the baby's mouth.
Before leaving home, I tried to feed the baby with formula, but the dropper I had was too big for his little mouth. Even though, the little guy started sucking my finger, so I started putting little drops on it, and he had a few.
On the way to the vet the baby was very active, more than what I have seeing babies of that age, which are usually more calm and slow... At the point when there was a moment when he climbed all the way from my bra, to the top of my turtle neck shirt and got out.
My daughter Ilia and I got so happy to see that, which indicated that he had enough energy... and was not weak... as it would be expected.
Until that moment, I haven't named the baby yet... so when he did that... I just said:-"boy... you are a trooper"... and my daughter said:- "Mom... you just got the right name for him: Trooper!!!".
We got to the vet who saw him for few seconds (she was in a middle of consulting a patient - and the office was packed) and she said he looked too skinny for his size...
She asked me to wait couple of minutes until she finish, and she would see the baby before her next appointment.
Meanwhile, I had my hand under my shirt and the baby was grabbing my fingers really tight, and moving around my hand.
I took for a moment my hand out to fill all the vet paperwork (which took me 4 or 5 minutes at the most), and immediately, they rushed me into the next available room.
It hasn't passed 5 or 6 minutes, before Trooper was holding my hand tied with his little fingers... and when I took him out of his pouch... his little body was rigid. He passed away in a matter of seconds...
I couldn't believe it... neither the doctor.
She examined his little body, and said that probably the rejection occurred sometime very early in the morning.
And that as for her experience, she thinks the baby must have had something wrong which the parents did detected... and for that reason, rejected him.
That's how nature works...
She said that if it were real rejection, the baby would have shown any signs of wounds, which he didn't had any.
Close to midnight (last night) before I went to bed, earlier than ever, he was with his mommy nursing, and his daddy was grooming him... They've always been good parents!
I came back home, and buried his little body... right next to Kalani in my front yard.
Still can believe it... and it hurts SO BAD!!!! That no matter what I hear... I still feel I didn't do enough...
I was for a long time unsatisfied with the diet I'm using, and somehow thought it wasn't helping the mommy produce more milk. But I kept postponing the change.
The mommy still has 2 other babies IP (if some of you saw the thread I posted on LGG, about her delayed pregnancies), and I just pray that I'll be on time to make the change.
I am very grateful for all the support I've received from my family at home, and my family of the Glider Community.
This little boy...GOT MY HEART!!!
Wherever you are, my little Trooper: Know that Mom loves you and miss you TOO MUCH, THAT HURTS!

Re: "TROOPER" CROSSED THE RAINBOW BRIDGE
Not for the ending I was hoping for. Everything happens the way they are supposed to whether we like it or not. Wish I was closer to give you some hugs in person. That joey knew love for the short time he was here..................believe that!!

I wasn't even expecting that ending... Even with the rejection and the dehydration he showed, those last couple of hours he was SO active, and seemed to have so much energy!
And yes, Cora... he knew love for that short time... but he gave me more love than he or anybody can imagine!!!
It's weird... (comforting and sad at the same time) but I can still feel the sensation of his little fingers grabbing my hand very tight...
I would never imagine it was going to be so hard on me...

Re: "TROOPER" CROSSED THE RAINBOW BRIDGE
One hour... and 12 mealies after... Angel gave me the chance to see one tiny paw and one pink leg of (RIP) Trooper's brother/sister?...
They seem to need more "cooking"... but are starting to grow now on a daily basis... again.
After what happened with the little boy I don't want to keep my expectations too high... but (sighs) it's so hard not to.
I just keep waiting... and praying...

Re: "TROOPER" CROSSED THE RAINBOW BRIDGE
Raquel you did everything you could for Trooper but I believe there were probably other things that contributed to his rejection. I'm sure the other 2 joey's will be ok, I know that its hard to not freak out over every little thing when it comes to joeys the way it is.
Please do keep us updated on the other 2. I cant wait for pics when you can.
