Dee/Garnsey!! in re WT's

Remember our discussion on some WT's possibly being trauma caused? What do you think about this one??? It certainly looks like my trauma caused wt tail on Twerp!

Since both of his parents are WT, he is probably a true genetic WT. Look at this baby pic: https://2img.net/h/i27.photobucket.com/albums/c163/LuckyYouGliders/Caspian%20and%20Madalyn/Joeys/011609FancyFrankie/DSC06162.jpg That is clearly a WT, to me.

Nina,
Not saying its not a WT. I just brought it up because on the old AC board Dee, Garnsey and I had gotten into a discussion about the fact that some of the WT's could possibly be trauma induced and I was showing the type of pics of WT tail that brought up the question to begin with...

My little Eugene has a white tip - but he came oop with a short tail, probably an ip injury or something...

No, this baby never had any trauma to his tail. His tail comes to a full point, both his parents are WT's and they have also produced another WT joey that had a bigger tip.

Lynsie...Never meant to imply that its not a WT, yours has the lineage...We (as in Dee, Garnsey, and I) got into a discussion on the old boards about how some WT's could actually be trauma caused and not a true WT esp on the WT's that appear suddenly in a line and never again.
I just got excited because there was a pic out there that looks similar to my Twerps white hairs (my camera is a POS and I cant get pics that close up) which I know is trauma induced...Guess I should have specified exactly what I was doing....sorry....

I was in that conversation, so I know what you are talking about but this baby is not an example of that. I watched the color develop on his tail and it has never been injured.

Chris, you just need a better camera, huh?

Lynsie's baby is very cute. . . . .Since white tipped tails are not that uncommon in wild gliders, we should see them here especially as the white faces are bred for.

Hey there Chris R! I sure do remember that conversation, but I just don't know much about gliders of color. Sure is a cute little booger, though! I can understand your point, though, if suddenly a WT appeared out of nowhere (with no known lineage behind it), one could very well suspect a trauma -- or a recessive gene that suddenly expressed itself (but that would mean that the other glider parent would also have to carry that same trait).

That is, IF I remember anything at all out of my Mendelian genetics, class, what over 19 years ago!

I remember that old thread, and it was a fascinating topic!
